10 Again
And so I ran
Not in fear or haste
But for fun
You couldn’t stop me
Too free to just walk
Too happy to stroll
Young enough to not care
So I ran…
I ran smiling
Laughing inside
Leaning fwd
Throwing my head back
Pumping my arms
Leaping for a handful of leaves
I had opened a door
Like jumping off that cliff into the cold river water
Butterflies, short of breath
Nerves churning before the leap
Surfacing in the water triumphant and full of joy
That momentary weightlessness
Almost flying
I was 10
And had just kissed a girl
