      A lone lion,
      the whiskers
      sniffing for something
      No sudden movements
      His faithful
      the lioness is trapped
      in the alzheimer cave
      Confusion around time and place
failure of action and language difficulties
They have been married for many years
      Promised eternal fidelity

      He does not feel
      too old to
do a throw with the lasso -
the tension in the rope drives him
      (even though he's married)
      A younger lioness to catch
      she is weak,
      lost his partner
      some years ago
      is an easily switch

Where does the border going ?
for what is wrong to do
      when you knows
that the other is in a relationship?
      Is the marriage vow obsolete?
... eternal fidelity and all that

      The marriage vows are spoken
      before God
and in front of your family
      and friends

A wonderful and powerful write Anne-Lise. You promise in sickness and in health but the minute it seems you are no longer in health many seem to forget the IN SICKNESS part. Especially if it is the mind that goes. Well Said. A fave for me. God Bless and a much blessed New Year to you and yours. JB PS The pic gave me a bit of a start. lol

wow this is a quandary that many have faced and it's so sad when the disease lingers for years and years. I feel sad for both parties in a marriage where this disease comes into play

- Of course it's sad - a lot is sad in life, Andrea ... but, everyone needs a familiar face, a voice that seems familiar and a hand to hold - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

it is indeed a terrible disease, one can only pray for safe passage, Sunshine, I used to do activities at the center, and it was heart breaking, one man was as young as 40, Thankyou for sharing such a deep touching story. Where there is no understanding there is no promise remembered, but the brain that does should respect the boundary, though we are human. Much love

-I have been working on this disease for many years, Vie Rose - In my poem I focus on the man (the lion) who betrays his wife, she is not good enough anymore due to her illness ... he is still married ... he "catches" a new "wife" behind her back - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

My Mother was fortunate. Had best care. Personality still shined despite memory loss. Diagnosis can be difficult and I understand some meds cause similar symptoms. Good doctor will make sure before deciding as change of meds can prevent dreadful mistake. Thought I had Alzheimer due to work related incident. Went through cognitive tests and brain scan etc. I paid, except for session with clinical psychologist. Diagnosed with sleep deprivation. Working 2 demanding jobs. Important write. D in NZ

You pose such a tricky sticky question. When the lioness is thus trapped, and the lion forever circles her cage, with no door. Where does the lion take solace? Hopefully the New Year will keep us from seeking such solutions. Happy New Year Anne Lise.

- The lioness is stupid who keeps the cage open, for the lion who has already made his promise :) - Even if you suffer from an illness ... you are not dead - Happy New Year, Scott :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

- Infidelity is disgusting and poorly done ... especially over someone who can not defend themselves - hugs // Anne-Lise :)
