There's a smell in the winter that you can't find anywhere but right outside, right after a heavy snowfall... It's the smell of wet, of clean, of leaves, and...well...peace.

Hi Anne-Lise. Sending you congratulations for your winning placement. I love the contrast in the first line between "downy" and the hard edge of "crystals." Slippery porch indeed! All those downy crystals piled up can look like pillows! hugs...

Yes those slippery steps that you need to be careful on. Had freezing rain this week so it is icy underneath the snow. Nice haiku. love phyl

I am partial to Haiku'z that are 5/7/5 dear poet! Likewise, when the write's juxtapose makes sense, to wit; visible without the poesy needing a footnote to explain...great write...have a great Autumn...much luv Anne-Lise, james
