A New Poetry Form

Posted by Daniel Miltz on 7/25/2025 3:03:16 PM

A new poetry form becomes mainstream through a combination of innovation, accessibility, and cultural relevance. It often starts with a poet or group experimenting with structure, language, or theme. If the form resonates—emotionally, socially, or artistically—it gains attention through publication, social media, or performance. As more poets adopt and adapt the style, educators and literary critics may validate it, incorporating it into curricula or journals. Over time, consistent use and widespread recognition help the new form become a lasting part of poetic tradition.

I believe writing comes from the heart. The flow of emotion, the words arrangement, the message sent across, all are the ingredients that spice things up. If a writer is restricted to use his/her style of writing, or given limitations towards expression, then it's no longer art. It's an imprisonment of creativity.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I believe that poetry and writing should not have restrictions put onto it. Who decided and why to impose limitations on expression? I write as the words arrived in my mind. Then I will tidy up the errors after. But I have no intention of changing the format to please somebody else. 'it should be seven lines long and each stanza should....... Please stop! Writing as painting or any artform is consciousness, don't impose restrictions on creativity!
