Opera

An opera is a dramatic stage work in which the story is carried mainly through singing rather than spoken dialogue. Its text, called the libretto, is often written with poetic rhythm and language, so opera sits at the meeting point of poetry, music, and drama.

Example

The queen sang her grief in a high, slow aria,
while the chorus answered in waves of fear and prayer.
