The Lake Poets were a group of English Romantic poets closely associated with the Lake District in the early 19th century, especially William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Robert Southey. They are linked by place as much as by style: the region's mountains, lakes, and rural life shaped much of their writing, especially Wordsworth's interest in nature, memory, and everyday speech.
