Bard
Bard originally meant a Celtic poet-singer or minstrel who composed and performed verse, often praising heroes, telling stories, or preserving history. Today, the word is also used as a respectful title for a celebrated poet, especially one strongly associated with a place or tradition, as in "the Bard of Avon" for Shakespeare.

The old bard lifted his voice at dusk,
turning the river's history into song,
and the crowd listened as if every name
had been waiting years to be sung.
