Amy Lawrence Lowell was an American poet and critic of the imagist school from Brookline, Massachusetts, who played a significant role in the imagist movement of the early 20th century. Born into a wealthy New England family in 1874, Lowell emerged as one of the leading voices of modernist poetry, known for her experimentation with form and her vivid imagery. She published numerous collections of poetry and was posthumously awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1926. Despite facing criticism for her personal life, including her lesbian relationships, Lowell's legacy endures as an influential figure in American poetry.
