When I was
       no more than four;
           our house
              burnt down one night.
                 It was winter and
                  very cold.
                    Our next
                     door neighbor
                    placed my
                  bare feet in
                 her oven
              to warm up my toes;
           and today, I recall
       that
moment, with a smile.

And you made me smile too. Love childhood memories. It is lovely that you remember a kind gesture, not so much the scary fire. I like the shape of the poem, like a typed smiley :)
