The Year Is Closing Fast
the year is closing fast
will I have written
all the words
allotted to this time,
have attempted
to engage my mind
in all the questions asked?
as poet it is my duty
to be cryer for this place
point towards the fallacies
that mar the human race:
yet lay our greatness
before hopeless eyes
and share the tales
that keep us whole and wise.
to illuminate
the small but powerful love
that everyday does challenge to our foe
have I done justice to the talent
the answer yes and no.
