The Road Will Open

The Road Will Open
The sheik taught me
When I came to him complaining of helplessness:
He said: Like a bird, shake the wing of the idea into the wind
So that the imagination can loosen its feet upon your shoulders;
And when the sun rises
Toss the blackness of the darkness into the light!
Don't wander with an empty bucket for the well is inside you!
Don't beg bread from door to door
For the field of wheat is inside you
Your mind harbors the harvesting sickle!
Don't run from brook to brook searching for water
At the bottom of your mind the ocean sleeps!
Behold, your mind erects barriers,
Your eyes are bandaged
And your ears are plugged
Then you ask others about the way!
Saddle the horse of your consciousness
Let your body do what your soul can't bear
And let your soul do what your body can't hold
And the road will open
