Talk Is Cheap

In days gone cold
They a wire installed
Up to then we spoke a-free
Hours spoke away did we
Suddenly they charged us and still speaking did
But rather less, though speaking still
Now between us they installed
I speaking louder called and called
Charging more but less installed
Then signal lost between the posts
Are masts and masts and masts and hosts
Skype and such fragmented ghosts
Tangled up wires and pillars and posts
Towers and satellites and signals and names
Names of things unheard of till now
Don't worry it's just a tracking device
Please keep on talking nice
Lost in a crowd smile declining
Talked till I got hoarse
And they recorded the track
Quickly fast forward and slow motion back
No one is lying only signals got crossed
Just frustrated and senile and lost
Ignoring the question
Believing the cost

A very thought full piece. I don't have all that paraphanlia. There aren't many I want to talk with. I don't want to be tracked I'm old and content to have one thing coming at me at a time. When I do talk with some one I want them here in my home. I want to make an afternoon of it. tea and conversation, cookies and cake, strolls in the garden to compare our roses. Where did that all come from. I guess I have really crossed over into old ladyhood. This diatribe was instigated by your poem.
