Science Unsettled

SCIENCE UNSETTLED

In times when magic ruled the world
When charms and spells gave power and sway
Then words of sorcery were hurled
To vanquish foes and win the day

But now in days more civilised
We’ll not decode entrails of birds
Though, reasoned thought process devised
We still resort to potent words

One such expression widely voiced
In substitute for fact reliance
Flagged with blithe conviction hoist
This holy sacred mantra - ‘SCIENCE’

In blatant contradiction to true meaning
‘SCIENCE SETTLED!’ bars rich scientific gleaning

You're spot on, Geoff-- science today in the West has degenerated into 'scientism', a type of fundamentalism like atheism, holy-rollers, islamists, communists--all those you-know-whats who think they and only they have all the answers. I love real science as I do faith because both feed my sense of wonder yet neither promises certainty as both the physical and metaphysical mysteries will remain as such while we are on this plane of existence--for good reasons no doubt!

'Science settled' is an absurd conundrum, of course. No true scientist would ever agree with such an idea. Thanks for exposing it, Geoffrey! ~ gw

I am so glad that we concur on the current debasement of the true principles of scientific method. Thank you Gershon.

Well done, nicely written and SOOO TRUE. Settled "science" once claimed a flat earth.

Thank you very much, John. It is gratifying to receive agreement. We or others may one day look back at current accepted beliefs with the derision now expressed for ‘flat earthers’
