For the contest: "AI: Panacea or Pain" by Simon Rogerson

Is AI a staunch friend with double face
that whispers “I love you, but will replace
Do its words capture a thought we just had
write it much better; if so, why be mad

Its chest of words is much greater by far
synonym surplus, its door stands ajar
by the way, their paintings lovely, also
Can there be wrong in the things they bestow

In our minds linger a strong scence of fear
as the future is becoming more clear
If our brains become inactive, then stall
AI will, in a word, shrug as we fall

Shadows fall on the words we try to mix
AI will ask, “why do humans exist”
Perhaps our love affair should be erased
Before we become only Unused Space

Much food for thought Ann. Loved the poem. When it comes to poetry I'd say that AI is not entirely 'the end of the word' as long as people admit to using it. Its presence though does sap much of my enthusiasm for the subject of poetry. When it comes to medicine I envisage great advances. I stand with both you and John.and say on the whole I'm fearful. Fearful for the devestation to things like the world's labour force. Cheers - Gary

That's it exactly, Gary. Its "brain" much faster, with more knowledge stored, how can we compete? Will we become a world of humans who have no thoughts, wise or beautiful, to share, and will we care? Thanks, Gary

I like the rhyming but the subject is fearful. were all being replaced. but some of us are irreplaceable like those who handle children. And we all know AI can only pretend emotion.

I think it's fearful, too. We live in difficult times: do we choose AI for the assistance it can give, or suppress it because of the devastation we may allow it to cause.
