“Self-pity in it's early stages is as snug as a feather mattress. Only when it hardens does it become uncomfortable.” - Maya Angelou

Listen to poem:
Like a dog
With a sandpaper throat
A cough like a bark
And the mood of a scrote

Just tossing and turning
With no comfortable spot
A nose like a tap
Simply dripping with snot

I sweat like a pig
Whatever that means
And I fart like I live
On a diet of beans

I don't mean to be crude
But I don't really care
Keep your sympathy close
With you lozenges, spare

Just lock me away
I just want to submerge
In a sea of self-pity
And a song like a dirge

All my charm has escaped
You can probably tell
So, dear friends, you can love me
When I'm perky and well..

Ah i see you are not feeling too well through your words woven here. So many are falling sick lately. Perhaps the weather? This is very descriptive and you’ve exactly shown how it feels to struggle with sore throat and flu! I love the lozenges line so clever and the ending is brilliant! Has a sassy side to it too! Yeap keep your sympathy, and to love and appreciate you when you are well but isnt that how the world works usually. Unfortunately. Self pity quote is brilliant too and i see that here

I think you picked up on the grumpy man-flu vibe. I like the 'sassy' comment. This makes my laugh now.. but poetry is not always butterflies and rainbows. Keepin' it real, Ink. Keepin' it real. Stay healthy dear Inky pal :))
