Dying In the Dream

It was like a tempest, a fury--

like a sea of glass.
I seen a for rent sign
and do not pass.

I was in a raging sea
where I could not drown,
where all my dreams were
like balloons...
I just had to pull one down.

They were like kites,
but light inside our brains.
Like ghosts going nowhere,
with their clunky ol chains.

Full of silence and secrets,
from pebble to gem.
Somehow it was always
just us and them.

Some gnawed at my bones
like the festering worm,
I thought of Fibonacci
as I watched it squirm.

Just another dying dreamer
standing at the gate,
take me now, take me...

please don't make me wait.
