Do You Remember Those Seals

do you remember those seals
the malleable anchor
i told you i would learn to sculpt
chiseling the seal you wanted
you threatened to fill the bath
a freezer for the fish
buy a place in the country with a pool
far away you would say
from any neighbors prying ear
where we would all learn
to balance balls on our noses
where we would clap together 
to those loved songs
we always listened to
running down the highway

you don't do you

perhaps we ran too far
i never learned to chisel
you never acquired your seal
we never gathered pets into our lives
evidently, we only attained half memories

Timothy, for me your poems go much deeper than they appear on the surface. There are elements of psychology in your works. The romanticism in your work always shines bright as, sometimes, do feelings of loss and missed opportunities; the latter themes are those that I particularly pick up in this poem. Your title drew me in and as always, the location and date where you originally wrote it fascinate. Panama in this instance. Such is my take on things. Loved it by the way! Cheers - Gary

San Blas is a Lido in Nayarit, Mexico....my poems are either my experience, or like Thomas Wolf, it takes more than one person to create a character...we Wordsmiths are sponges in the human condition, we are the messenger but where the achievement comes is in the message, we are secondary to that message. we are poetry, not True Confessions or True Romance...we drive the language to new heights, neology, and metaphors never seen before, twist a double entendre into a new frontier....thank you
