Afterthought

Afterthought

They sat together chair by chair
two spinster sisters Mae and Clare
in the bleak silence of a room
emitting sadness and some gloom
a service for their spinster friend
who passed away so quietly
a fitting tribute to the end
she kept her secrets in her heart
to no one would she dare impart

they bought a gravestone to inscribe
a sentence in memoriam
to leave each with the slightest clue
if you can take a little hunch
You think she got her ticket punched?
