Wilted Flowers

Wilted Flowers

What’s happened to Justice
and speaking truth to power
When people protested
With a peace sign and flower

Yes times are changing
Evil has invaded thoughts
The shifting of power
In madness you’re caught

Now you attack each other
It seems so black and white
The poor bow to the rich
Things have shifted far right

Neighbors fighting neighbors
You believe it’s fake news
Instead of trusting your eyes
A rampant liar you choose

What’s happened to Justice
And speaking truth to power
When people protested
with a peace sign and flower

Now people are abducted
Put on planes and sent away
placed in foreign prisons
is that the American way

Allies are unfriended
Compassion not a trace
World order upside down
I don’t recognize this place

Freedoms sacrificed
All to own the Libs
A toddler holds the crown
While you’re stabbed in the ribs

Do you feel the sadness
A shift in the sands
No more coequal government
power held in his hands

What’s happened to Justice
and speaking truth to power
When people protested
with a peace sign and flower

Don’t sleep while it burns
Your country can be great
Stand up to tyranny
before it’s too late.

Hi Richard, your lament falls in my ears. It is not something peculiar to any one country. It is a universal pandemic--- falsehood and false propaganda are rampant and everywhere truth is buried and justice, waylaid. Those in power are corrupt and the people are indifferent. Consequently the world is going to the dogs! Powerful composition.

I have felt it too. All over the world the falsehood, fake news, propaganda are at work n accepted. People who stand for justice are tortured or they change the definition of justice. I can understand your pain even sitting in another continent. The evil is universally spreading to be accepted as normal.

Not only have protestors been rounded up, others for various reasons have disappeared off the streets, and not by anyone wearing a uniform. For those of you silent over a genocide, I will say this, your children and grandchildren will study you in books, asking how could this happen? I feel like this is 1939.

There is no "Great Tribulation" unless is some kind of alcoholic drink, then maybe, it is though about humanity, love this poem by the way, now lets go back a wee bit in time, when most in the west where silent about a genocide. If people are silent when this is done to others you teach your leaders is ok to do it also to you. (cont)
