TRUMP

Quote by: Blue Sapphire
"One can only give what one has, be it love or be it hate !"

Where do we place that cup of hate when love's bitter pill,
has been swallowed?
How do we move back into love when all is dead and gone?
Do we fold our cards and peacefully accept
or do we play the wild card of hate and send
resentful snakes slithering down the path of a broken life....
Where do we find the courage to love again after hate
has devoured our sense of compassion and taken away
the virtue of forgiveness?
One can only give what one has, so will it be hate of love
that wins over, in the end.
It's your card game so let me know if you decide to fold
or Trump it !

ps this was not meant to be read as a political poem
but rather to show how every man and woman has
the capacity to either love or hate depending on their
choices. I used the Trump playing card because
it shows how we can to win the game, if we play it right.
I was hoping for some non-political comments on this
poem. Thanks :)

Truths cannot always be hidden. Unbelivers will be found. Politics is not the subject. Though the screaming is very loud.

An old Italian card game, Trumps, if I recall correctly, playing it with my grandfather. "The word "trump" itself originates from the Italian "Trionfi," which referred to the Trump suit in early tarot decks (internet encyclopedia)" -- we learn from one another." Won can win the pot, win the argument...but the heart loses in the end. A very thoughtful, well written poem that has me thinking deeply about compassion. Brava!

I agree, hate can rule the world but it won't save it, hate can self destruct but love never does, thank you for your comment Joe :)

What a dexterous depiction of the venomous hate we have been experiencing all over the world. I don't know who will play the trump card. But the recent suspiciously surprising tilt towards Tehran and Israeli women's rally against the 'snake' seem good turns ahead.

The only hate I see comes from those who preach love and compassion and virtue and forgiveness waving Mexican flags while burning American ones and attacking ICE agents doing their job enforcing the law.
