Toaster And Philosopher

Written: July 24 for contest, Sponsored by: Miranda Hawley *********** A toaster is the wise old sage of the kitchen, Fire's bread with "Plato" steadfast position. Chrome reflects light from the cosmos' gaze, Like "Nietzsche" on a morning haze. The bagel slots are so deep and vital, A metaphor for insight that is softly incisal. It dings!—a discovery in real life, "Kant" just sits about and talks on strife. Toast pops! I gathered it! Fate's browned bit, Socrates proved late in comparison to it. So here's to logical thinking, cut and clear, Truth provided hot, with a sputter so dear.

Eek, an interesting comparison. Who would have ever thought of comparing a toaster with philosophers. Toaster as 'wise old sage of the kitchen' is an interesting analogy. Your poem is so very humorous. Congratulations on your first place win, dear Lasaad

Sotto, An exceptional rhyme executed with the utmost aplomb. A work that fuses dry kitchen ware humour with the virtuosos of endowed philosophy. Your comparisons match the contest brief flawlessly Congratulations Howard

I got a kick out of this poem...I giggled with each verse. Absolutely creative and brilliant! I'll never think of a toaster quite the same :-) A sure contest winner. Have a pleasant evening, Sara
