Those We Love
those we love don't go away
they walk beside us everyday
some think heaven is far up in the stars
God, I believe heaven is wherever you are
and so you promise to never leave or forsake us
if we believe, if in you we truly trust,
then wouldn't that prove heaven is near?
that presence I feel is really here?
the body may die and become ashes or dust
but our bodies are only a third part of us
we have a spirit and we have a soul
knowing we live on can comfort and console
even though I mourn the loss of you
in the quiet of waking your presence comes through
in that near sleeping state, just as I wake,
I hear your precious voice, my sorrows abate
I can feel your hand brush across my brow
recall sweet memories and wake fully now
a smile, a bit dusty, plays on my face all day
as I feel your touch in every warm sun ray
