THE REAL YOU -POTD


How difficult it must be
When no-one can see
The real YOU….

Your body the world views
Is not who lies within
Trapped in the wrong body
Trapped in your own skin

Feeling ‘not right’ in your body
Never understanding why
From your life’s beginning
Daily struggles inside

Every human has the basic right in life
To be their true ME
So changing your gender
Gives you wings to set YOU free

Your bravery is admirable
Making the changes you need
In the face of ignorance and judgement
YOU are determined to be freed

Hold your head high
Walk this world with pride
Be YOU without shame
No longer shall you hide!

How difficult  it must be
When no-one can see
The real YOU!

Deb your message of love is the only way to think of others that are going through their personal feelings of how they feel. They are so emotionally sensitive and are prone to suicide. Love is what they need and not ridicule. Your kind words reflect the caring and loving person you are toward others. Congratulations for sharing such a caring and loving message...

Bravo and well written Deb! It's hard enough to be born into the wrong body but to be shunned and persecuted by prejudice is a failing that stems from ignorance and fear. Also, I don’t want some biological male in a wig and a frock reading fairytales to any kindergarten or primary school kids or having those impressionable little kids marching in some parade with some scantily clad Priscilla Queen of the Desert dude simulating sex acts as I have witnessed. Let kids be kids and adults be adults. If that makes me offensive to you I won’t lose any sleep. Good talk!

Once again you’ve got it all backasswards! I’m talking about these neo-liberal zealots who want pubescent children with gender dysphoria deciding what sex they want to be. At that age they can’t decide what flavour ice cream cone they want. They push for laws that don’t require consent from parents who are denied the right to nurture and protect their own children. I’m not interested in what adults do or what you believe.

However, what l don’t appreciate is your need to write an ugly insinuation that kids are not safe around transgender people….l find that sort of ignorance and judgement unbelievably offensive and completely unnecessary to write here. l have read your previous comments to other poets who have questioned or disagreed with you and see you can be very rude, insulting and sarcastic!…. ‘l do not and will not be associated with that negative behaviour on my work’… Debx
