Anne-Lise, what I call blue you might call gray, but they probably are very much the same. Sometimes there are slight differences in different places in the species. They are not common here. I don't know if the one we are saw was the same bird or it there are several birds that come to the same place. The one we see here is very rare. Sara K

I did frame a very large copy of that picture, and have it where I can see it quite often. I imagine my husband has forgotten all about it (scene and beauty and even the fish he caught). Thanks for the visit and uplifting comments. Sara K

Andrea, we have a great blue heron that visits the waters around here now. We go out to Sprewell bluff every once in a while, and he comes out there and fishes. I have not seen him the last two times we went there so I am wondering if something has happened to him. Sara K

I, too, would've found the blue heron more captivating than fishing, What a beautifully penned poem. Must fave. hugs, Sara B.

James, I have never had haddock. I think that must be a cold-water fish. I am wondering if it is very fishy tasting or is it mild. Thanks for giving me an idea of another form to call it. Sara K
