Notes About The Poem

You can never have peace until you make peace with the owners of the land, you can never take what is not yours, and think is a God given right.

The Gaza Lottery

Look up to the sky
will you live or will you die?
is a lottery you see
we the west dropping aid
pretty and adorable exploding bombs
the grandest casino of war
will we save you?
even so not for long
you will be slaughtered
our masters decide

Dear Arthur, This is such a potent penning. I realize that this is a complicated long term conflict but I don't think many are aware of the conditions that people were living with there and I am so appreciative of the insights you have brought with this piece. Blessings and lets pray this genocide ends soon..

Arthur, it's a devastating situation. Many of us have problems with both sides in this war, which should end. A permanent solution could be worked out, but as you point out in your introductory remarks, some people have a sense of entitlement. I suspect it will get worse, but hope sanity will prevail at some point.

I have no problem with people defending their homeland, ironically they are the ones willing to compromise, and the Zionists seek genocide.

I understand this point of view. Sad that they can't reach peace and work it out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for dropping by my page. Sara K

Hopefully, but this is like Nazis, they want no peace only victory, IN the mean time 14,000 children slaughtered and double that maimed.

oh yes upsetting but your kind words always help, and is not in this case an eternal war, its a occupation of 75 years, before we lived in peace for generations, this is the last vestiges of colonialism.

Hello Arthur, you really cut through the layers of illusion and exposes the harsh realities of our world. I loved the juxtaposition of aid and bombs, the portrayal of war as a sinister game of chance, it all speaks to the inherent contradictions of power and privilege. Your poetic words challenge us to confront uncomfortable truths about our complicity in perpetuating injustice. Only by acknowledging the rightful owners of the land and rejecting the fallacy of entitlement can we hope to find true peace. - Blessings, Daniel

Arthur, your poem is a masterful exploration of the devastating effects of war, international power relations, and the aftereffects of colonization and imperialism. The effects of war, especially on those who become victims of the fighting and are caught up in the chaos. Land and resource control and power are also discussed.
