Notes About The Poem
Sara Jama's Draconian State Contest ~ ~ September 2, 2025

Reprobate of a Draconian State
There's tyranny taking place in the United States.
Fear of it becoming a Draconian State is not just a threat.
It's reality, thanks to the presidential powermonger
whose hunger and thirst for rulership are evident
in the hypocrisy that runs rampant in him.
It's a disgrace to the office that the idiocy
of one manipulative, mendacious man,
one dysfunctional dictator, a fabricator of falsehoods
has created a maelstrom of mayhem in what used to be
a free nation that upheld the laws of Democracy.
He should be despised and chastised as the tyrant,
the usurper king who rants and rages when he hears
what contradicts or disagrees with his irrational ire.
It's bizarre perdition that he uses to stifle and smother
us as he tries to lock us inside a Draconian cage.
Not fit to be a leader, this diabolical sinner
waves his scepter while sycophants do his bidding.
What he's made of America is not something great,
but a country in which hate fumes and festers.
He stabs with the pen and we're bleeding out.
He's created a pestilence that's weakened the land
that he is swore he would make great again.
A second election won, reveals the reflection
of what America is becoming... a woebegone loser.
Land of the free has been undermined, disparaged
and denigrated by a toxic president who's poisoned
the minds of many citizens into believing
his bloated bureaucratic rhetoric. It's sick!
Are our hands cuffed by him when he pouts and huffs,
and when anyone dares to speak out against him?
Do Americans have to turn away instead of having a say,
and have we lost the right to pursue happiness?
Is our liberty no longer worth the fight?
The greedy hand of a dictator put a light to the fuse
that ignited a nation that burns in chaotic crisis.
Callous and cold is the vengeful mind
of the one who seeks to be omnipotent, an oligarch.
Brutal and barbaric is this appalling abuser,
hell bent on malevolence seen in his bloodshot eyes.
Ironic that he, who's taken a mighty nation
and turned it upside down with civil unrest,
thinks he deserves the Nobel Prize for peace.
The villain rules what was the home of the brave,
making slaves of those who bend to his will.
Scrawling his name across endless pages of
executive orders to overthrow orders of judges.
The villain looms over America like the gloom
of a storm cloud when we should be shouting,
in voices loud, "Condemnation to the conniving one
who is toppling our country! Castigation to the evil one,
the thief who's brought a country so much grief,
the usurper king at the helm who has defiled America!"
He's earned the epithet, 'Dictator of a Draconian realm.'
It's a title only a narcissist would declare 'vainglorious.'
