Oblivion

Billions of galaxies, Plenty of planets, Moons and suns, Unfathomable stars, Bountiful black holes, Drastic darkness, Yet on this esoteric earth My minute head is Filled with frivolous And quizzical questions, “What should I have for dinner?” “Am I going to be a winner?” Funny how we take everything For granted guilelessly, The thing we call life, Feels like a distraction sometimes, Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, funerals, Imbecilic circle, Just like a circus, Fathers on hamster wheels, Mothers on tea cup rides, Children on roller coasters, Is life a distraction from life? Free will is another topic Of a mystery map to Deeply dive in and discover That all that matters is The clouds in your coffee, The sun in your pancakes, And the moon in your pain au chocolat.

This went from enchantment to everyday humanness, a complete package in a pretty bow, gifting readers with galaxy beautiful, plus chance to laugh at themself and maybe rethink some priorities. Very effective. I wrote one about how every time I really focus on where we are, rubber bands snap in my head (something like that). It is a dizzy think, where are we? Poetry hugs ... CayCay

I thought, and have for many years, that the infinite in the heavens and beyond in it's vastness - we have no visibility or personal knowledge of.. science guides our understanding. And yet, here we are dealing with colours, lattes, poetry and joyful (some not) experiences of life. Small things are, infact not small at all - they define us, shape us, we become part of their story and they ours. So - you summarise beautifully in this poem; quizzical and petite, pretty and thoughful. A treat. S:)x

Dear Sam, yes it's the everyday beauty we live for, science is necessary for life but love, beauty, poetry and good coffee is what we stay alive for. Thank you so much for writing such a lovely comment ! I appreciate you. Best, Anne

Dearest Anne, I read it twice, then a third time, and each time I felt this strange, comforting twist, like you’d managed to wrap all the chaos and wonder and absurdity of being alive into a handful of lines. Anne, I love how you zoom all the way out to the galaxies and black holes, and then snap right back to the tiny, ridiculous questions that fill our heads every day. It’s so true that sometimes I catch myself worrying about the dumbest things, and then I remember we’re all just spinning on this weird blue marble in the middle of nowhere. Your words made me laugh and sigh and feel a little less alone with my own “frivolous and quizzical questions.” Beautifu and thought provoking. Blessings and hugs Dear Anne, Daniel

Dearest Daniel, I also had this exact thought “we’re all just spinning on this weird blue marble in the middle of nowhere” before I decided to write a poem about it. I think we think alike. You always understand the true meaning of my poems. Thank you so much for the lovely notes, I am thankful. With love and respect always, Anne

So many choices, it could be verse (as in worse) jk "as in; we could be all dressed up and no where to go!" :( Connecting with nature's settings help me control those silly distractions. I Love that... "the clouds in your coffee" makes me think of that song by Carly when it meant... "Clouds in my coffee are the confusing aspects of life and love, that which you can't see through and yet seems alluring... until...Like a mirage that turns into a dry patch"--Carly Simon. Quite a collection of things to do we can't always escape, Anne. Enjoyable read

Yes most live in a bubble. Rarely if ever do they date venture outside the bubble to see the bigger picture, or to try and tackle existentialism. What's for lunch seems to be the big issue of the day. It's one of the reasons I don't concern myself with the AI problem. Bigger fish to fry...

Agreed, there are bigger fish to fry – and sometimes it's the small moments (like coffee clouds) that make life worth living :)
