I Hate this World

I hate this world I'm living in
I hate it to the core
I hate this world I'm living in
Can't take it anymore

The hate that sparks a genocide
Does anybody care?
The theft, the lies, the cover up
Is there much more to bear?

I hate this world I'm living in
A place where children die
Abused, neglected, underfed
The world stands idly by

I hate this world I'm living in
The constant threat of war
I hate this world I'm living in
Where is that exist door?

I hate the trafficking of souls
Who are in desperate need
I hate the leaders who are blind
By power and by greed

I hate this world I'm living in
Where animals are killed
For sport or just for appetite
My cup of wrath is filled

I hate this world I'm living in
Where sex is monitized
I hate this world I'm living in
Deceit's been digitized

And yes there are some happy times
Where sun shines through the rain
These fleeting moments are so few
The residue is pain

I hate this world I'm living in
And though I rant and rave
It will not change a single thing
I have no strength to save

And so I struggle through each day
See nightmares every each night
Please make for me a world in which
The darkness turns to light

The sad truths of mankind must make us thankful for the goodness in humanity, otherwise what's the purpose or reason for sentience or consciousness... other than to drive us all mad. Though sorrowful, your poem is extremely beautiful, Eileen.

Very moving piece. I hate what’s going on but I still love people and nature.

Dear Eileen: Your poem touched me today. It seems that the struggle between good and evil is peaking as we watch. And that’s the mystery…WHY… when we know history and yet still repeat it. It’s a deep flaw in human nature. May God protect the innocent. SuZ

Hey, Eileen! I feel for you, so this is what (I think) you should do. Here's my advice in a trice: Neither read nor watch the news; it's worse for you than drinking booze. Teach love of life to just one human; soon you'll have a whole class bloomin'! (btw: I am gonna post the last sentence as a monoku now. Credit to you! Keep smiling, Gershon

Thanks for the visit. I've lived through a civil war and have spent time in bomb shelters while bombs landed all around. I've seen enough of this world to know it's not a walk in the park. Thanks for the advice, though. Glad it sparked a poem.

Sometimes it does us good to vent, dear Eileen...and, no, it is not all in vain! Making our voice heard counts, even though we don't see instant results, but there will come a time when light will overcome darkness! ~ Hugs // paul

I've spoken out about things that matter on numerous ocassions. In the sociology class I teach, we are going to be studying social movements and change. If only I could see a better future for those of us in the Middle East. Blessings.

Many have had similar laments. Just as Hitler became ever more desperate when he saw his end was near, so the Devil is stirring up mayhem like never before, recognizing his end is also near (Revelation 12:9-12). The good news is the new world you wish for is not a fantasy, Jesus promised it (see Matthew 5:5; Psalm 37:10,11,29). Meantime, we suffer. Hang in there and awesome poem

Only the Prince of Peace will bring lasting peace. Till then, we will keep hearing of wars and rumours of wars, as it's written in the Bible. I'm well aware of these verses as I'm the daughter of a pastor and at one point wanted to be one myself. Theology interested me. I know the world isn't going to be better, and that's why I wonder, "When? When will you bring an end to all this suffering? Surely, this is enough, Lord Jesus."

Very powerful poetry, I could go on and on and on of course, however I will say just a small little thing that I hope makes you smile, on IG, as I scroll and they show me such beautiful and cute animal pics/vids, I always smile even more as I see you like it before me! :)

:) it seems we share the same interests, dear. Animals deserve better. They do. Anyway... that's one of the reasons I'm sick of this world. If I were rich, I'd establish an animals sanctuary in Lebanon for all the abandoned and abused animals. If only...

Wow Eileen what an very honest and raw write…powerful! I hear you as life can be so disillusioning at times especially at the present time with wars, pain and so much disharmony. I guess we just do the best we can and hold on to all the good and blessings in life which are many! I enjoyed your poem a great deal….Debx

I'm very empathetic and the pain I see cuts me to the core. I wonder how much longer can we go on like this. I believe one day God will put an end to it all. In heaven all these things will pass away. Thanks for the visit. I just had to get all that angst off my chest. Thanks for the kind words.

Very well written. And many of us can relate to this, dear. Even in the good old USA. We are going to the dogs here. And number one in sex slavery. God will bring US down.

Yes, Andrea. It's everywhere... corruption and greed. You may not be struggling with the constant fear of war as we are here in Lebanon, but you have your own struggles. Sending hugs
