Enlightment

We all have bad days, but sometimes worse than others
Sunshine isn't enough to brighten thoughts
The world may seem dim, as if the lightbulb of beauty is dying
Things may have happened that no-one can understand,
without walking in your shoes, it is just how it is
Worries, fears, trauma may spin and spin around,
weaving together a story that seems to have no end
Feeling trapped without options, can be the worst

You may try, you may work hard, you may seek answers
When nothing changes, the doubt can be utterly consuming
There are times like this in life, triggered by events
You may be lost at home and on the streets, not the woods
Yes, you are alone, even when people are around
So, you seek connection in faith and pets with unconditional love
The solution is to try, even when the weight of things feels impossible
One step taken, can result in a mile of incredible progress

To keep on taking those steps with what you want in mind, is the way
to fill the emptiness, to make things happen that feel out of reach
Believe it can happen even when it feels there is no way to get there
Refuse to let doubts win, whether doubts are your own or from others
One day, you will realize; the good lies in the times you were 'wrong'
Wrong to believe life can't change, wrong to think there is no way out,
Because for anyone, there is! .... whether it has resonated or not

You just don't know when you take the step during that darkness
Once you know, you know... and the joy is absolutely astounding
As you stand in your footsteps, knowing that you made it,
you fought for yourself; the celebration is knowing you made it happen
Life is good, as you stand in your own enlightenment, shining, smiling
Everything around you is what you want, as you envisioned it to be
This can happen, this can evolve, even if it takes a very long time
No matter what the situation is, never discard the good, throughout eternity!
