Notes About The Poem

Robert's Darkside of Aquarius Contest * 9/8/25

Darkside of Aquarius

Boldly, the hellions appeared.
Riding in one-by-one pointing accusing fingers.
Out of the eerie darkness they rode,
as if from the depths of an abyss, they came.

The first offered a toxic libation.
Lethal words ranted like a preacher
hurled like fire and brimstone.
A tenebrous warning as time runs out...
"Mothers keep your children at your knee.
Soon the world will dwell in misery!"

The next rider arrived as if from Hell.
Tongues of fire from sea and sand
claiming to do the Piper's bidding.
Another poisonous drink he poured
with the message that leaders lie.
'Do not defy Hell's commands!"

They come on wheels of Dharma
from the Darkside of Aquarius,
breathing fire across the world
that no amount of water can douse.

Without hesitation, the third rider appeared,
invading peaceful dreams of some
that turned into morbid nightmares,
and the stark reality that his mission
was the submission of men to kill their brothers.

Rider four from hell patiently waited his turn
then said wars were games of religious fools.
His words scared superstitions minds
a tool he used when his tongue was on an acid trip.

They come on wheels of Dharma
from the Darkside of Aquarius,
breathing fire across the world
that no amount of water can douse.

Time is running out to save minds and souls.
Hellriders arrived ahead of the silver surfer.
The wheel will keep moving round and round
until in the end, the truth unfolds.

Based on the Bruce Dickinson song Darkside of Aquarius.

Lin, a very interesting exploration...that also has some relevance to our world today. We can try to point this out, but some people seem addicted to the poison. Smiles, of course. Wait...what's in this glass someone just put in front of me.

Those people have tunnel vision and wouldn't admit to being in the wrong tunnel if their lives depended on it... in some cases, it might. ha ha Don't drink it!

As often repeated, the greatest invention of the devil, was to get people to believe that he doesn't exist. And the greatest tool of priests, is to convince people that world is soon to end, so question nothing we tell you...and just pray. Powerless little mortals by yourselves. Very intelligent write. A lot of study went into this one. Enjoyed your write very much! A FAV!

Hello, Joe and many thanks for your insightful remarks and for the fav.. Preaching hellfire is a scare tactic. Faith in God is a weapon against the devil.
