Why and When I Wrote
When I was in grade 6th, our grade was given a holiday assignment, we had to write a poem IN HINDI about "The Indus Valley Civilization", I was very frustrated and angry because at the the time what me and my sister would do is make fun of Poetry because it was just 'weird' for us, and now I have to do it for an assignment that gives 5 MARKS! I was visibly upset!
We had 60 or something days of holidays to finish all the assignments. First, I finished my English, French Maths, Social Studies and Science work and now left with the poem.
I didn't do it till like 30 days or so! I just hated it so much, but then after we had to start to finish the work quickly, I had to sit down with a pen and a paper and THINK!
I waited, waited, waited, waited and a lot more waiting, finally! I wrote a poem, which was by heart, I had to imagine the Valley and the people of civilization! It was beautiful!
I remember the face of my Hindi teacher when I gave it to her,- "Arastu, I know you got this from the internet, you are not fooling me." It was that good!
Unfortunately, I am not much into Hindi, so when I started writng in English, it had a lot of learning of genres and all!
I started writing in this wonderful site in 2022 November, I loved it! It has the most wonderful people ever!
Though there was a HUGE gap in my poetry in between, now I submit new poems daily! I love it here!
Currently, I am at 73 poems total online and others on diffrent sites, but this has been my Poetic Journey so far!
