The Mysterious Sewing Machine

Maria Pulley is sitting at home flipping through her sewing patterns when she hears someone ringing her doorbell. She gets up, walks to the door and opens it. The postman is at her door. He delivers a package to Maria. Maria looks at the handwriting on the package and recognizes the handwriting. It is Jimmy’s handwriting. Jimmy is an ex-boyfriend of Maria’s. Maria opens up the package and inside the package is a vintage sewing machine. A letter also arrives with the sewing machine. The letter which is from Jimmy sates that his grandmother who has recently passed away has left him a sewing machine. She has left him special instructions to give it to someone special. In his letter Jimmy writes that he wanted to give it to Maria as he knows how much she loves sewing. He writes that he hopes she puts it into good use. The letter puts a smile on Maria’s face. Maria puts the sewing machine on the table, grabs some fabric and tries sewing a little with her new sewing machine. Suddenly she is whisked away to another land. She ends up in Sewing Land. As soon as she awakes from her deep sleep she finds herself in a strange land surrounded by sewing machines and fabric. She is in shock and wondering how she ended up in the strange land. All she wants to do is get home. She begins to wander around the land in awe of all the beautiful fabric she sees. She finally stumbles across a group of young women who look about her age all sewing. She walks up to the women and introduces herself. She says hello my name is Maria. What are you guys sewing here? The young women tell her they are sewing quilts to keep everyone warm and cheerful in Sewing Land. “oh am I in Sewing Land?” asks Maria curiously. “Yes” the women told her. “How did I get here” asks Maria? “You must have used a cursed sewing machine to get to sewing machine land” the women told her. “That’s how we got here and now we love it here and never want to return home”. “Oh is there a way to return home” asked Maria?. “Not that we know of” the women told Maria. “Great I should have never accepted the sewing machine from my ex boyfriend” muttered Maria in annoyance and anger. “No point fretting about what has happened now. You might as well just succum to the dark side and join us in sewing quilts” the women said to maria. So maria put a fake smile on her face and joined the women in sewing quilts. Days past, then weeks flew by. Soon weeks turned into months and months turned into years. And what do you know Maria Pulley was happy in Sewing Land sewing quilts. Then one day out of nowhere as maria was sewing a door appeared and a hand pulled maria through the door. She was back in her home. Was living in sewing machine just a dream that maria had or was it reality? We will never know for sure. But what I can tell you is that as soon as maria was back in her beloved house she went straight over to the sewing machine which she had received from her ex boyfriend jimmy and threw it in the trash. On garbage collection day maria was so happy to see the sewing machine being tossed into the garbage truck and then she was even happy to see the garbage truck drive off. From then on all was happy in marias life. She still had a passion for sewing and only used sewing machines she bought herself.
