the future of the subway

“The Future of the Subway”

1

The seats were white like velvet, plush like a pile of cotton and the people were sitting animalistic as a condor on a lone tree in the midst of green fields and flowers. Could they see that the fans above the tracks were generating huge amounts of energy. This energy was enough to keep ticket costs low. Or did they just like the new chairs the clean painted walls, the friendly atmosphere changed from underground dungeon to a place of study, sanity and peace. All those winds that were wasted now come to pass the savings onto you.

Its an odd thing that it took so long to realize the potential of wind in the subway and on the city streets. Now cities were taking back the wind and when the wind blows the money flows.

“Now this train doesn’t run on electricity like the trains of old, this version runs on compressed air. In a masterly fashion of compression and retraction the plates are magnetic and are like the old monorail this compressed air also helps lift the train.”

“So why did they just run it on electricity before?”

“And why did Walt Disney have a monorail? These my friend are questions for the beurocrats to figure out somewhere along the way. But if i had a guess it would be because they didn’t really care and were looking at the bottom line on how much it would cost for such an invention to be put into place. but maybe it only became safe when the proper regulations were in place. and the fact is that the old way worked so what was the point in changing anything.

“But now its show and tell time everyone line up by your projects and be prepared

to talk about your inventions.” The teacher of the group took the train conductors arm and brought him over to the first in line the teacher’s pet Alicia.

“Hi, I’m Alicia.” The pair looked at each other with a wry smile on both of their mouths. For often times at night they would joke about the students and the ass kissing Alicia always had a knack for coming up with the most ridiculous jokes it was a part of her charm. She like to think it kept her rounded as an individual.

They then turned their focus back to Alicia.

“This Invention cools volcanos that are about to erupt.”

A slight glint in the eye of the Engineer.

“‘How do we do this?’ you ask and its simple you simple use dry ice to seal off the surface and you drill down the molten lava and it will explode with dry ice in the base of the volcano.”

“Do you have an example of this?” Asked the intrigued Engineer.

“Oh yes.” Alicia came to the side of her invention a volcano about to erupt. the tension was a thickness in the air. she motioned the teacher and the engineer back.

“3...2...1…NOW!!!” she screamed and the couple was taken aback as the table exploded in a jaw rattling catastrophe of light.

coughing and smoke filled the front of the lines of experiments.

They were still on their feet and when the Engineer looked down he saw red. He wasn’t it in pain but what was that saying you don’t feel an injury right away because of the adrenaline. He wasn’t sure then he saw the girl he shook his head. She knew it was failure but she did crack a smile. Was she that delusional that she would kill her teacher? The Teacher thought back to the C she had given Alicia on her last book report. Was this some kind of sick revenge?

“Its Barbecue sauce with a little hot sauce slipped in magmas hot right?”

“Funny.”

“Timmy” Said the smart dressed young man as he help out his hand. The conductor took it and smiled.

“So what is this a backhoe?”

“No its emergency breaks that come off of a wheel chair and help secure it to the ground.”

“So these spikes are…?”
“To hold it to the ground yes.” Said Timmy with a beaming smile.

The pair walked to the next one and the Engineer said to the Teacher, ”Keep an eye on that one he seems too smart for his own good.”

4

“So what have you prepared little lady?” Asked the Engineer.

“It’s so fun it’s a pogo suit. You can bounce on anything. Care to try it on.”

“You bet i do!”

and so went the day unnoticed in the annuls of time.
