STALKED

Women constitute the highest population of those being stalked around the world!

Her instinct had warned her not to drink anything alcohol because the guy’s eyes gave away his intentions- intentions she couldn’t really tell what they were after but just that she didn’t like it. He was staring straight into her eyes. She became so uncomfortable, shifting from side to side.

“Why is he staring at me that way” she asked herself. He called the waiter and didn’t even ask her what she needed when he ordered for two glasses of vodka.

Second reason to dislike him, she thought. So bossy! She couldn’t deal with such guy, can’t even see herself dating him. She told him she was fine and didn’t feel like taking anything, giving him one of those fake smiles you see in a villain movie.

He was tall and undeniably handsome. He had these eyes that showed that all he wanted was her body. His eyes were fixated most times on her cleavage. So, so annoying she said to herself. He told the waiter that if she was not having anything that he himself was also fine. Ughh! She felt angry and couldn’t stand another second with him staring at her like that. She must get herself rid of this guy! She searched for a good opportunity to do that.

He asked her what her name was and simply said “Grace Kingston, but my friends call me Gracie”. He said his name was Herbert and that was it!

He wanted to get more engrossed in the conversation when she told him she was not feeling too well and felt a need to go home. He offered to drive her home but she told him she came with her car and that she would be just fine. With that she got up and left, never bothered looking back.

Gracie had just driven past Allen Avenue and felt she needed to eat something because she was feeling really hungry. She thought she should call her friend who had fixed her up with the worst blind date ever. This was her fifth date in a week and they had all gone bad.

She dialed Annie’s number but there was no reply. She dialed again this time a voice she was quite familiar with replied

“Hello bae! How was it?”, sounding expectant.

“Mtchew” she hissed. “The guy was so so annoying. He kept on staring at my breasts like that was all he wanted”

“Come on Gracie, I’ve told you to have fun and what’s more fum than sex?”

“Even at that, not with that guy, you should have seen the way he kept staring at me, trust me babe, if you were the one, you would be really scared to death. I’ll call you when I get home, need to grab some dinner at Kingston Jo”

“Okay, call me, bye”. The line beeps to end the call.

She drove into the parking lot and when she came out, she noticed a particular black Honda Accord she had seen back at the restaurant pull over in the opposite side of the parking lot. The glasses were tinted preventing her from seeing who the driver was. She waved the thought aside thinking to herself that there were a million type of that car in the city, just a coincidence.

She ordered for pizza, chicken pie and coke. What a dinner! she thought. She had wasted her time when she could have prepared a nice dinner and would probably be asleep now in her bed. She checked her watch and it was 9:45pm. “Phew! How time flies”.

She took her dinner in plastic polythene and headed to the parking lot. She drove straight home. She entered her house and warm, comfortable feeling of her home welcomed her. Her house was not really a big one, but it showed she was doing well as an interior designer. Her kitchen was living room was opposite the door with the three rooms upstairs. Her house was beautifully decorated and she quite proud of that! Afterall, practice what you preach she would always say to herself. She washed her hands and set to eat her dinner when she heard a thud at the door. She walked past the living room, checking the time. It was 10:55pm. Who could it be at this odd hour. She never received visitors at this hour of the day.

She asked “Who is there?”. When she got no reply, she opened the door and walked to the terrace, looking down at her little garden. She laughed at herself thinking she must have heard something else. As she turned back, she saw a face she recognized well and asked “What are you doing here?”.

That was when she looked at what the person was carrying, a little gallon of fuel and matches!

Oh my God, he’s here to kill me. Instinctively she tried to run past him but he caught her, she didn’t know how he had done it with what he was carrying but she saw the fuel and the matches on the floor. She struggled to be free of him but he was more manly than she had thought.

Sweat was dripping off her face, she could still perceive his masculine cologne, one she had loved when they first met. She noticed he was putting on gloves, obviously he didn’t plan to leave any evidences behind after murdering her.

She didn’t want to die! Not now, God. She had a lot of plans for her life! Who was going to take care of her mom if she died? All these thoughts beat the back of her mind. He pushed her to the end of the terrace. She was saying “Please, plea..se don’t do this, I can give you anything you want”

“It’s too late” he said. “I gave you the chance to do that and what did you do? You threw it back at my face, now you’ll have to pay dearly for it”.

He poured the fuel on her but she was shouting “Somebody please help me”

“Don’t bother, ain’t nobody coming to your rescue”. He lit the match and instantly she was on fire.

Her last thoughts were “Of everybody she had gone on a date with this week, this was the person she thought would do this to her”

Too late she was set ablaze. The pain was excruciating and still she kept saying “I don’t wanna die”

Obviously, he had been stalking her but she kept saying it was all in her head. If she had known better!
