Our Rescuer

Our Rescuer

There was once a story told about a baby elephant who got trapped in a hole.

There was drought in the land and the elephants had to travel to a strange place where they have never been before in order to find water to crunch their thirst.

One of the baby elephant with them felled in a hole and couldn’t get out. The elephants tried to get him out but the hole was too deep and it would endanger the others and it would make things worst.

They refused to leave their baby in the hole and begin to sound their trumpet as loud as they could. It was very early in the morning and their sound woke up the whole villagers.

They knew that it was not safe to get too close to the elephant. This was a respect they had for the elephants so that they would be able to live in peace with each other.

The elephant began to get louder and louder, so the villagers decided to do an investigation to find what was wrong.

When they approached closer to where the elephants were, a strange thing happen. The elephants moved aside where the villagers could see a deep hole where the elephants were standing near.

So the villagers decided to take a chance and get closer where they would be able to look into the deep hole. Behold, they seen a baby elephant trapped in the hole and elephants were trying to get him out without endangering the safety of themselves.

The villagers’ compassion for the baby elephant was so strong that they knew they had to do something to get the baby out of the hole or he would die. Also the rainy season was near and the elephant would drown in the hole.

To make a long story short, the baby elephant weight was over 400 pounds and it was too heavy to be physically lifted out, plus they didn’t want to take a chance of hurting him.

They had to wait a long time to get the efficient equipment to be able to dig a trench where the baby would be able to walk out by himself.

It took hours and hours digging the trench and when it was done, the baby walked out and the other elephants begin to sound their trumpets as they were thanking the villagers for helping them.

When the elephants begin to walk away, the matriarch elephant looked back and sound her trumpet as though she was saluting the villagers for helping them.

Finally, God has gotten us out of our ditch and we should always acknowledge Him with thanksgiving and praise, using our gifts, talents and abilities to help those who are in trouble who do not know how to get out of their ditch.

God said; “I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered.” “When he calls to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.”

That’s the kind of God we have; Our Rescuer!
