Juliet and the Terror Ride

In the month of December on a cold freezy morning, Juliet Stoner was walking on the street, wrapped with a poor scarf. Her family was very poor and just last week her little brother died of Pneumonia. Her parents were devastated but as usual they continued on with their life taking care of their daughter, Juliet. Juliet was sent out to the market to buy some food for her family on that freezy day since her father was very ill and her mother was so tired to walk. As Juliet was walking, she saw a fancy fair next to the Red way Gates. Her eyes gleamed when she saw all the fun rides but the next moment sadness filled her as she knew that these fairs would be very expensive, so she kept on walking as her hands shivered with cold. When she was halfway down the street, a young man came by her side and asked, “Why are you sad? Why not go and play in the fair? Its for free,’’. Well as soon as Juliet heard the word ‘free’, why she ran back to the fair as fast as her legs could run. She entered the fair and saw rides all of kinds like merry go rounds, Ferris wheels, car rides, petting area and so many other things. Juliet knew she had to pick only one ride as if she came late her parents would get very worried. So, she chose the Terror ride which was a Ferris wheel. Juliet took her seat and took a deep breath. There were many other people in the ride. The ride soon started. The Ferris wheel came up and then as it was going down, Juliet felt as if someone was pulling her from behind. She knew that if she let that someone pull her, she might fall. So, she sat in her place half scared as the ride whizzed. Then she saw a ghostly like figure circling about her. Everything became blurry. Then Juliet felt herself land on a hard spot. She opened her eyes and saw a man by her side. ‘Wake up young girl. The ride’s over’ he said. Juliet rubbed her eyes and got off the ride feeling dizzy. ‘Now what in the world happened to me?’. She started walking to home when she saw a familiar young man. He said, ‘Well did you enjoy the ride?’. ‘Well kind off’ she said. ‘Oh. Well hope you had a fright at the Terror ride,’ the young man sniggered and went off. Juliet looked at the young man who walked off and suddenly she felt a ghostly feel over body and a voice, ‘Juliet. Juliet. Come back. Come back to the terror ride. I’m not done with you yet.’ Well, Juliet ran all the way home without stop. Her parents were getting worried, but when she came, they were relieved. She narrated her story to her parents who listened carefully. After she spoke there was a silence. Then her mom broke the silence and said, ’Have you met Mr. Bill?’ Juliet told her mom she knew no one by the name Mr. Bill. So, her mom described him to her. ‘A tall, young man with a sneaky smile,’ she said. Yes! Said Juliet now remembering the strange man she met. Her mom sighed and said, ‘Well then what you saw was his ghost’.

Juliet froze and said, ‘Ghost?’. ‘Yes, Ghost’, her mom replied. A few years back Mr. Bill was a rich man. He spent all his money freely and one day he fell ill. He was treated but there was no cure. One day the doctor went to check on Mr. Bill as his usual duty. But when he came, he saw Mr. Bill with a knife in his stomach. He was dead. The people of our town claimed that the good doctor had killed him and then hanged him. Some people say that he appears on the street and talks to people, leading them into trouble. Juliet was silent for a minute. Then she said, ‘But what about the Ferris wheel?’ ‘Oh, that I fear what you saw is Rhone’s ghost. He was a friend of Mr. Bill and when he heard that he died, well he decided to kill himself. But he thought that if he killed himself like that in some common place like Mr. Bill, well no one would care but maybe in some place where people come would be the exact place. So, Mr. Rhone went to the Fair and he saw the Terror Ride. ‘This is the place’. He took a seat and while the ride was whizzing down, he unbuckled the seat belt and stood up and fell down and died. Some people believe he that he was so devastated about Mr Bill’s death that he decided to join him in his fate. Some people say that every once a year, Mr. Rhone’s ghost would appear on the ride and he would try to pull people making them terrified because he was angry at all people who tried to cheat him and Bill when they lived’. Juliet froze again for about 5 minutes to ponder about what she heard. ‘So why did Mr. Rhone try to kill me?’ she asked. Her mom sighed again and said, ’Because your uncle was a bitter enemy of his and Mr. Rhone would look for every chance to get even with him. And now I believe he has…
