Deepest Cut - Prologue: rough draft

Unkept secrets and broken promises follow us everywhere that we go. One small step after another, they walk us to the edge of the Earth. An unforeseen flash of reality becomes clearer and clearer as we soon begin to learn that no one can be trusted. The world in which we inhabit is a dark place filled with heartache and sorrow. Love has turned into a word of torment while disappointment has grown stronger by the second. Nothing matters when the pain has grown like a weed that kills the beauty surrounding it. We have all become slaves that are lost in the emptiness we call home. Shimmering and dancing on our cold faces, tears replace the smiles that were once so common. Blood has blackened our clothing and we’ll never be able to wash the colors out. Strangely enough, the agony has left us wanting more.

It all seems so real to me. My entire universe has become a dark abyss that I refuse to climb out of and save myself from. Bandages are wrapped around my heart as I expect them to mend all the shattered pieces together. Negativity is all that my eyes seem to seek while my tampered mind searches for something that I cannot retrieve in the mass of hatred and neglect. Crippled legs prevent me from walking the direction towards serenity. Instead, my demons drag me deeper and deeper into a sea of regret and mistakes. There, I am forced to drown until I cannot take it anymore and, eventually, vanish into nothing.
