Billy the Bizzy Bumblebee

Billy the blissful bumblebee enjoys flying around the garden. One pleasant day, Billy buzzes beside his neighbors honeycomb to see what the honeybees are doing...

Billy sees the honeybees building up their colony; tiny bees, but busy bees all working in harmony.

They do their jobs with passion and they fly with so much speed. They work so hard thought Billy, "How much honey do they need?"

"Us bumblebees live life in ease, we do just as we please. We fly around the flowered ground and breeze along the trees.

We make so little honey, though we make enough to feed. There's more to life than honey, yes, much more to life than greed"

His neighbors heard him buzzing and his words held quite a sting. If they don't want him bugging them they ought to say something.

"Our lives are spent with purpose as we work to help our hive, and with our stores of honey our sweet home has come to thrive.

The time you spend so lazy it's as if you're in a daze, we find it sort of crazy, it's a waste in many ways"

Their buzzing seemed so boastful that Billy flew away. He decided he had better sights to see that day.

Billy found a group of ants who carried lumps of bread, and chunks of great weight and size they raised upon their head.

Their home was in the distance so they focused on their chore, they made their way back step by step with quite the score to store.

Their load was really heavy, truly such a load to bear. Their destination distant, would they ever make it there?

Billy watched them lumber by, they wobble as they walk, and when he tried to say hello the ants refused to talk.

Their march was slow and steady which made Billy soon get bored. He didn't want to stick around just to be ignored.

Billy found a spiderweb that twinkled in the dew. A spider worked around that web which grew and grew and grew.

A dragonfly flew much too close and tangled up her art. When he broke free the tangled mess was clearly torn apart.

The spider gathered up her threads to build without delay, but the way in which she spread that thread would take much of the day.

Billy spends his days at ease, floating on the wind. He wondered why she'd try so hard to build her web again?

Off he flew to surf the skies, his favorite game to play, but Billy felt his color drain into a shade of gray.

He flew back home to rest his wings and think about his flight. "Maybe the ants, the honeybees and the spider have it right.

Flying can be loads of fun, it's great to be so free, but working hard to get things done may not be so crumby."

A bee from Billy's family didn't like what she had heard and kindly put his mind at ease with softly spoken words.

"Bumblebees are gardeners who make the flowers grow. We spread the flower's yellow dust like flakes of golden snow.

We pollinate much better than the busy honeybees. It makes good sense to do your job while doing as you please."

As Billy listened close he felt his wasted time was done, so off he buzzed to go to work and have a bit of fun.

He danced across the flower bed and flew from bud to bud. Like jumping on a bouncy bed covered in yellow mud.

He flew around the flowered ground and breezed along the trees, an expert flying bumblebee whose job makes him quite pleased.
