The only new thing in poetry is one's personal voice...and that is everything!

Universities are where we go to improve our minds...Poetrysoup is where we improve our hearts.

From one poet to another, write on! Poetry, man's best....

Any senseless poem that fails the reader's expectation should be tossed into the trash bin. Write something that inspires,, let emotions flow with harmony.

Writing poetry is similar to, a very independent mistress.

I ran a poem of mine through AI just for analysis, not to change or improve anything -- the opinion was frightening. Better than any person I have encountered, as if this thing was inside my head. The next generation really does have something to worry about. We are dinosaurs my friends -- hope our bones will retain truth enough to inspire when we are gone, to be really read as they are dug up and carefully dusted, by facsimiles of living souls.

“You have to be able to validate yourself as a Poet. There are thousands of poems floating around and not everyone will enjoy your particular poem > neither should you expect them to > that’s OK. But someone out there will resonate or you would not have been called upon to articulate it.” GhairoDanielsQuotes

Poetry is Truth -- and truth connects time and space. If it was true for Plato, it was also true for Shakespeare, and is therefore true for the modern poet. Which, insistently, works the same in the converse. The modern poet does not need new language and form (gimmicks)...what he or she needs is to often revisit man's relationship with omnipotence.

Poetry need not be defined...only that after a work is read, the reader says: "Now that's poetry!".

If poetry and music speak the language of love, poets keep writing and musicians play on.

A poem should be a gift, not a grab.

Poetry is forever!

Poets have no need to use AI, poetry comes from the heart, it’s a human’s art.

"Poetry is medicine for the writer and for the reader."

A bad poem says, "This is who I am." A good poem says, "This is who you are."

Indeed, great art is spiritually stimulating. Often great art, great poetry has little to do with intelligence...and more to do with bravery, honesty -- anyone, with practice can be intelligent -- bravery requires faith not found in books.

It’s not the end of the world yet. I wonder, when that moment faces us, if it is the poetry in our veins that will drive Love home in man (and woman).

How many years I have been with poetry? And yet I still write to the beat of different drummer.

W. H. Auden said that poetry makes nothing happen. What he meant, I think, is that poetry makes everything happen.

A poem is as much written by the reader when it is read as it is written by the writer when it is written.

Poetry is similar to painting: learning when to put down a brush is just as important as the reason for picking one up.

With me poetry is about subduing one's conditioned mental reflexes, and allowing purer inert forces to take control of the stylus. In short, poetry should be about transcending the physical into realms of the metaphysical. The heart of great writing is spiritual and not commercial. One must take the "I" out of a work as much as creatively possible.

Poetic license wouldn't exist had the first to use it not done so in a manner that tickled the critics.

Yes, it is like that. I always write in bed, lying down, using pencil for ink floods back. Cat is next to me, probably wondering why I bother when we could be out hunting. Little does he know, I am hunting composition. Clawing into paper, till it drips poetry.

To write a good poem, correct grammer or punctuation is not important. It is only the idea and thought that counts

Young poets' hearts bleed love, old poet's hearts bleed ripe strife.

In poetry the eyes are always more original than the heart.

“poetry is not ornament but citizenship of the soul.”

Poets defend one another in the name of being needy, like America throws bombs on territories of other in the name of the other being needy. It’s not defence at all. It is insertion into space which is not yours.

If you want to call yourself a Poet, don’t let anyone speak on your behalf - speak in own poetic voice. Don’t let anybody else speak about your abuse, expériences or healing. You not only give away your poetic license, you give away your power to feel completely. Any trauma will be diluted in this way & your cycles of repressed emotion will remain repressed in fragments. Worse, it will be coloured by someone else calling themselves collaborators. This is a sophisticated form of power usurping.
