Contest Description
What to Submit
A TANKA old or new. It may be a 'free verse' version so does not neccessarily need to be in the traditional defined '5:7:5 :7:7 syllabics, ..so its a matter of your choice/inclination.Either way is acceptable to me in this contest.
5:7:5:7:7 is the traditional tanka syllabic version (the first three lines are the upper phrase(SHOW)typically contains an image,& the last two lines are the lower phrase(TELL)exposes the poet's ideas about that image. The free version also follows this guideline.
Preparing Your Entry
Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts.
English Language
Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
