*Haiku is both singular and plural. Kerouac’s usage of "s" is unusual.
"He's the only one in the United States who knows how to write haikus… Kerouac thinks in haikus, every time he writes anything—talks that way and thinks that way. "The American Haiku is not exactly the Japanese Haiku. The Japanese Haiku is strictly disciplined to seventeen syllables but since the language structure is different I don't think American Haikus (short three-line poems intended to be completely packed with Void of Whole) should worry about syllables because American speech is something again... bursting to pop. Above all, a Haiku must be very simple and free of all poetic trickery and make a little picture and yet be as airy and graceful as a Vivaldi Pastorella." Jack Kerouac

I have finally written my first Blog. I was doing a little research about Jack Kerouac. I wanted to see what he was most known. As a writer, he is known for a novel called On The Road. But as a Poet, he is known for his (as he spells it) Haikus. And it is believed that he coined the phrase Beat Generation. The above is an exert from an interview with Allen Ginsberg, another poet, and Kerouac's notes. He wanted to create the American Haiku or also know as the American Pop haiku. I was wondering if some people would like to see more modern Poetry forms (Or an expanded list) in the submission. Like the poetry forms above or say a Ku-Duet, Beat Poetry, etc. If you have a suggestion, I would love to hear them. And if you're entirely against this, then I would like to listen to those expressions as well. As always Blessings fellow souper's JC Hawkens
