I have been having a look and a little go at almost all of these features. They are interactive, fun and challenging.
I've heard people say, "I could never write poetry!" And its hard to convince them that anybody can. Your new Fun & Games section will open doors to such people who are reluctant to create poetry!
A little breakdown review...
Poetry Trivia What's brilliant about this feature is that not only is it educational, but it explains the answer regardless of whether the answer given was correct. This is great because sometimes people guess but don't know why they gave the correct one. I can see this being a useful tool when teachers are covering poetry in their lessons.
Blackout Poetry This allows people to recreate an existing poem by omitting words. Admittedly, I made a mistake at first thinking that they are blacked out to allow us to replace words with our own. However, the way the blackout changes the poem can alter the message. This can help writers to think about sentence structure and choice of words.
Poetry Wheel Love, love, love this one!! The idea of spinning and winning a prompt brings so much fun to poetry. As a person who needs to try new forms, this feature is excellent! Because it offers the challenge of trying the form with a given theme and to have to include Emotion, Colour, Season, Object and Verb along with them helps us to think deeper about what we are writing and the message we wish to convey.
Magnetic Poetry looks like its going to be a good introduction to creating poetry.
And the Cardmaker looks like a fun one for ones who would like to merge poetry and art into a beautiful creation.
Team PoetrySoup. Its clear that a mountain of work has gone in to creating these features. As someone with limited technological ability, my imagination of how challenging this must have been won't even cover it. But thank you for creating these features. They will inspire so many people and even aid poets out of writers block.
Hoping this review helps. With much appreciation and best wishes, Natasha.
