Have worked "on the road" on electrical transformers and other large electrical apparatus for 32 years.  Was a bricklayer before that, and a Computer Science major in college still farther back.

Home is now Atlanta, Georgia, after it being Ohio for most of my life.  Worked in Canada for 9 years, lived there for 4 (Nova Scotia), ending in 1994.

I love my wife, computer games, traveling, beverages, arguing, philosophy and writing.

A Quick Temporal Addendum

Looking at "poems - New (All)" I saw three in a row with similar titles.  So fitting that they were posted, likely not too many minutes apart, on the last day of November and the first day of December:

Winter Poem - Miranda Keuter

A Winter's Tale - Mary Grace

A Winter Poem - Cheryl Hoffman

Face it, northern hemisphere people, Winter Is Coming.

Old Doug (which is a screen name or account name or user name of mine on other sites, but this time, on Poetry Soup, I decided just to go ahead and use my real name).  I have not regretted it yet, and I certainly don't regret drinking the Soup.  That is one tasty bowl.

Hey Rebecca. We should also remember that with Mogwai comes much responsibility.

It's 'snow' coincidence about the titles yes winter is on it's way (and the recent unveiling my thermal vest is proof of that lol) but there is also a Winter Poem contest:-) Do join in the contests Doug its a great way of learning new forms and challenging yourself to write out of your comfort zone. So glad you dipped into the soup bowl:-) hugs jan xx

Right on (and "Write On"), Jan. Yeah, in a couple contests now. Totally new to me, and I am really surprised - would have thought it SO HARD to try and fit in with something, rather than just let your own writing "spirit" of the moment guide you. But it's actually a ton of fun. One exception for me - I tried the current 'Shooting Blank Verse' one - 12 to 20 lines blank verse, iambic pentameter. Got nowhere. Not just like "writer's block," this was like I was the wrong species. I ended by just giving up, nothing accomplished, not even one line.
