Cry Not My Love

Cry not my darling love, dry your tears and eyes, Still I cradle you in this smog infested sky. Though our home got up and left, left us here alone, Alone my dear you ne'er will be, together we will roam. Of these brownstone town homes and empty ghetto blocks, I’ll make your sterling cradle, and your woolen frocks. We’ll play in spring-green meadows, and you’ll chase the butterflies, won’t see the gray smoke rising, nor hear the siren’s cry. You’ll rest on silken pillows of pure and dreamy white, Away from all the blackness of the city night. So cry not my darling love, rest soundly in our bed, While at times life seems most bleak, your eden lies ahead
