Nostalgic Rains

The pitter-patter of rain on my rooftop..
The phenomenal petrichor
And the feeling undescribed..
When I walk bare feet on the fresh green grass.

I see puddles of rain on the sidewalks..
As I walk past them.. The smell of hot bhajiyas
Being fried at the old tea stall
Suddenly makes me nostalgic.

It reminds me of the good old days.. Which now exist
Only in the black and white memories of my mind
The days when the only race was between the paper boats.

Reminds me of the heavy grey monstrous clouds
Lurking in the darkness of the sky..
Causing winds to settle down calmly..
Before the downpour began.

I remember staring at the window pane
Where the pearl-like raindrops ran one after the other
Accompanied by a gentle, cool breeze flowing through..
Spreading a sense of rejuvenation in all our hearts.

What a beautiful poem you have written... I love this line: "The days when the only race was between the paper boats" Wonderfully written and great imagery.
