Please Don't Kill My Wolves

Kings and queens of the timberland,
their pups born into a fraternity of royalty,
Crystal blue eyes shudder the dawn,
  Thick forests and open tundra,
Native American songs in the wind in all seasons,
that gently flow musically in the springs.

Oh, to run, run with their brethren,
Take down the elk in a choreography
of hunters and prey churning up the snow,
They howl in unison, a woodland concert
of the untamed, neath the consoling moon,
their breath exhaled in a frosty mist.

  Whatever you do,
  please don't kill my wolves,
  So many have been felled,
  My heart can't bear
hearing the roaring of the guns,
  Oh God, no, please don't
  pierce their bodies, their souls,
Please, please, don't kill my wolves.

Your pen penetrates my hear Regina. My head exploded when I heard Trump lifted the ban on shooting wolves and bears in their dens (wrote Of Cain And Canis to cope) They are indeed magnificent and key to a balanced ecosystem. hugs and thank you for this xomo

Nearly all carnivores kill for survival. Wolves are no different. We kill their food source forcing them to kill ours. A wonderful poem, Regina:) I'm pretty sure they are now protected as much as one can be protected in the wild. Love your heart:)
