How Do I Say Goodbye

How do i say goodbye
to the one who helped me believe
when all others
walked away

But you and I
have grown our seperate ways
you don't understand where I'm going
and I'm too far gone to stay

half hearted smiles
and silence in the dark
we are nothing but shadows
playing at love for a lark

so soon we'll say our goodbyes
and quietly pack our things
promising to stay in touch
but both knowing what the future brings

maybe a few phone calls
and messages with no reply
but in awhile we will be invisible
in each others eyes

so a hug and a kiss
for the short time we have left
we both made mistakes
but remember no regretts

for tonight i'll lay beside you
and pretend it doesn't hurt
I don't want to part enemies
but staying together would be worse

you don't understand
where my life is going
I never meant to be
leaving you behind

you always had your freedom
now's the time that I gained mine
so tonight while you slumber remember in your heart
I never meant to hurt you
this is tearing me apart

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed."
