My Secret Box

There is this place so deep within.
A box so fragile and thin.

As the days grow long, and I feel old.
I visit my box of memories untold.

Of other places, and other times.
When I was in love and life was fine.

Memories of my first kiss.
And would I ever feel like this.

When I lost my first love and had a broken heart.
Would I be able to recover to again start?

My children being born and the love in my eyes.
Knowing that I had brought into the world such a wonderful life.

Only the good memories are kept deep inside my secret box.
I won't let the bad in I keep it locked.

My special wedding day when I married my soul mate.
And I knew that their was more to love than just hate.

The look in our adoptive baby girls eyes.
When I held her for the first time.

So as I grow older and I grow weak.
I just have to open my secret box, and take a peek.

That takes me back to a place in time.
To memories that have kept me from going out of my mind.
