What Do I See

What do I See?
As I look at myself what do I see?
I see someone who is black, darker than most people.
Someone who has a heart but don’t want to share it.
A person who is lost and in her own little world
do I think of myself as beautiful? NO!!
I look at myself as UGLY and MEANINGLESS
because when I was growing up, that’s what people used to call me
Ugly, Blackie, Big ears…
Even though I’ve locked myself in my room and cried
I feel like nobody can help me
I am lost, I need love but I can’t find love.
I ain’t got any love from my parents when I was a kid and still not getting it now.
As I look at myself what do I see?
I see someone who’s going to become a doctor, lover, mother
someone who’s loves to help others
as I look at myself what do I see?
I see someone who is dark and pleasantly made
and growing in the bless of GOD
