Dreams

We all have dreams that we hope
will come true.
But for many of us, those dreams never do.
Oh, there are people, with talent enough,
to beat the odds, no matter how tough.
Then there are those
with much luck to spare,
who seem to find miracles almost everywhere.
And others, still, who are blessed with more love
than any of us
could ever dream of.
So what about us; the "unlucky ones"?
What do we do when our work is all done,
and nothing we do
or say comes out right?
Should we keep on trying, or give up the fight?
My friends, I have not the answer to this;
but I, too, have despaired
and felt fear's dark kiss.
And yet, these words, may help after all,
and bring comfort and hope,
no matter how small.
I had once given up, on love, and yes, life;
many times I have felt pain
cold, and sharp as a knife.
I couldn't go on, it was too much to bear;
I felt like I had no reason to care.
But alas, I have found dreams do not have to end
when something goes wrong,
or you've lost your best friend.
You will see, if you wait,
and hope,
and pray,
your dreams just might still come true someday.
And if, by chance, they do not,
take heart;
thought you may feel your life
has fallen apart.
Letting go of the dreams that you hold very dear
can open your heart for new dreams to appear.
So when you feel lost, and nothing goes right,
do not lose your faith
or give up the fight.
Keep hoping, keep wishing, keep sight of
your dreams;
life is not always as bad as it seems.
Let your heart lead your mind, and you cannot go wrong;
you may find you have had other dreams all along.
